Tasting Note
Nose
An inviting bouquet of warm honey and sun-kissed orange peel rises first, wrapped in vibrant oak spice—the unmistakable fingerprint of virgin Hungarian oak. Beneath the bright top notes, a gentle ribbon of sweet peat smoke threads through, joined by vanilla bean, roasted nuts, and a touch of sandalwood. The M-1 yeast imparts a subtle citrus-honey lift, adding finesse and a delicate brightness to the aromatics.
Palate
Extraordinarily smooth and deeply layered from the first sip. Silky waves of vanilla honey and orange peel glide across the tongue, soon giving way to dried prunes and warming spice. At the mid-palate, the peat makes its presence known—assertive yet refined—before softening into a rounded, lingering smokiness. Nuances of dried fruit, creamy vanilla, and toasted nuts add richness and harmony.
Finish
Long, warm, and elegantly smoky. Lingering notes of sweet oak, dried fruit, and gentle peat embers leave a lasting impression of balance and craftsmanship.
Provenance
Crafted from a mash bill of 66% Gladfield Smoked Barley and 34% Gladfield Distillers Barley, fermented with Saf Spirits M-1 Whiskey Yeast. Aged for 24 months in a 20L virgin Hungarian oak barrel at 63% ABV, then cut to 46% ABV with pure Antipodes water and bottled in the signature 700ml Saverglass Cognac bottle. A small cask with a big impact—yielding a whisky of remarkable concentration and character.
Information
Some sediment may form in the bottle over time.
There is 25 bottles available in this batch. There was supposed to be more but Angels Share was approx 25%. Possibly a reflection of the hotter climate the whisky was aged in.
